About current movements
Current Movements is based in Washington, DC, with a mission of connecting activists, organizations, and movements around the world using film, art, and technology. Through our events and films, our audiences will be able to dig deeper into the global issues changemakers are working and learn how it connects to their local context. Our goal is to inspire new and experienced organizers alike to dream big and take action.
film Screenings
As part of our mission, we host the monthly Current Movements Film Series in partnership with Eaton Impact where we feature a film about activists and artists from around the world and tie it to the movements happening in the greater Washington, DC, area. Each film screening is followed by a discussion with local activists and artists who go into depth about what community action is taking place on the issue. Audiences learn about what is being done, how they can get involved, and that with collective action, change is possible. Our hope is that these screenings happen in cities around the world.
Contact us if you would like Current Movements to host a film screening with local activists and artists in your community.
film Production
We believe that curating and creating compelling media and events around the changemakers and creatives that are building the future we want to live in is an essential component of our work. To that end, we produce short documentary films about grassroots movements around the world. Our desire is to highlight the amazing work that is being done throughout the world and to increase the number of documentaries focusing on community-based solutions to the most pressing issues facing people today.
If you have ideas for documentary films or would like to hire us to produce a film please contact us.
